Patient Registration Rep.

Location: Niagara Falls, NY

**Job Summary:**
The Patient Registration Representative (PRR) is a key role in providing exceptional customer service to patients. With strong interpersonal skills, the PRR ensures patient satisfaction and care. They emphasize patient education and empowerment to enable informed decisions about their well-being. The PRR also offers clerical and administrative support in patient care delivery, meeting patient needs with a respectful and inclusive approach.

**Primary Function:**
The primary goal of the PRR is to carry out clinical and administrative support functions to ensure a positive customer experience.

**Responsibilities:**
- Maintain the integrity of the Health Information Record by accurately obtaining, inputting, and retrieving information using the Electronic Medical Record system.
- Schedule appointments, complete pre-registration tasks, verify demographic and insurance information, and perform other necessary tasks to ensure accurate claims billing.
- Identify situations requiring triage by clinical healthcare staff.
- Coordinate patient and information flow while strictly adhering to patient confidentiality in compliance with Federal HIPAA laws.
- Collaborate as a member of a patient care team, provide Care Coordination services, and actively participate in Quality Improvement and Quality Assurance activities as needed.
- Complete Prior Authorizations and Referrals, and provide specialist resource information.
- Track and log patient information.
- Attend meetings as required.
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned.

**Qualifications:**
- High School diploma or high school equivalency diploma (GED).
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience delivering high-level customer service in a healthcare setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and computer literacy.
- Preferred: Associate’s Degree in a related field.
- Preferred: Thorough knowledge of medical terminology.
- Preferred: Three (3) years of experience providing high-level customer service.
- Preferred: Three (3) years of relevant healthcare experience.
- Preferred: Proficiency in an Electronic Medical Record system.

**Physical Requirements:**
This position entails sitting, standing, walking, bending, and stooping. It may involve significant job-related stress. Evening and/or weekend work may occasionally be required. The role may also include lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying up to ten pounds.

**Union Affiliation:**
The Patient Service Representative position is represented by United Healthcare Workers East, Local 1199. The pay range is $16.76 -$20.24/hr. depending on experience.
