Assistant Director of Nursing

The Community Health Center of Buffalo (CHCB) is seeking a Full-time Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to join our large, diverse, well-established, growing, and state-of-the-art health center. Job Summary:
The Assistant Director of Nursing will deliver non-clinical/non-direct patient care duties under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, Physician/Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner.

Responsibilities:
General:
- Adheres to agency policies and procedures regarding confidentiality
- Participates in quality improvement activities
- Communicates effectively with patients and staff
- Maintains a professional manner in interacting with patients and staff
- Adheres to infection control principles
- Assists Director of Nursing with staff scheduling
- Time and Attendance for all Nursing staff

Specific:
Oversee Nursing Activities including but not limited to:
- Checking and logging refrigerator and freezer temperatures twice a day
- Monitoring and ordering medical supplies, including vaccines
- Making sure there’s enough copies of forms such as temperature logs, PPD forms, order form, and VIS
- Checking faxes and mails (nurse mailbox) in the mailroom and addressing them
- Making sure physical forms and other forms are photocopied for scanning before giving them back to the patient
- Making sure refrigerators and freezers are used ONLY for vaccines, medicines, and other medical supplies
- Updating NYSIIS for scheduled patients by checking eCW immunization record and scanned immunization record.
- Inventory of sample meds
- Upon arrival of vaccines, putting them in eCW and NYSIIS for VFC and eCW for private
- For night duty, making sure all specimens for Quest are brought downstairs
- Clear voicemail before leaving
- Provides case management
- Maintains a clean, safe orderly work environment
- Performs supportive duties to maintain efficient patient flow
- Performs routine diagnostic tests
- Reviews lab results and reports abnormal findings to the providers
- Maintains supplies for patient rooms
- Maintains the integrity of the medical record
- Maintains documentation in logs as appropriate
- Provides patient education
- Recognizes emergency situations and notifies appropriate personnel
- Regular attendance is required
- Attends meetings as required
- Performs other relevant duties as assigned or requested

Qualifications:
- Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York
- Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
- Three years’ experience in an ambulatory healthcare setting
- Computer literacy
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications:
- Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
- Five years’ experience in an ambulatory healthcare setting
- Experience with an Electronic Medical Record System

Physical Demands:
Requires periods of sitting, standing, walking, bending, and stooping. Evening work may be required.

Pay: Approx. $78k - 80k, depending on experience.
