Dental Hygienist

Department: Dental
Location: Buffalo, NY

Job Summary:
The Dental Hygienist will provide direct patient care, educate patients on oral hygiene and health, and perform various dental procedures at the Community Health Center of Buffalo, Inc. This role requires a graduate of an accredited dental hygiene program with a NYS dental hygiene registration certificate. One year of experience in a general dental practice setting is preferred.

Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care including prophylaxis, examinations, topical fluoride applications, dental sealants, scaling, root planning, and other patient services as permitted under state law
- Develop and expose radiographs
- Instruct patients in oral hygiene and health
- Clean and disinfect the dental operatory
- Clean and sterilize dental instruments
- Assist with inventory of dental supplies
- Perform clerical duties such as answering phones and making appointments
- Work independently with flexibility and personal integrity while effectively working with patients and staff
- Relate to patients of all ages and life situations in a professional manner
- Continually refine dental hygiene skills through continuing education courses, literature, etc.
- Participate in and contribute to Quality Improvement and Quality Assurance activities and functions as needed
- Attend staff meetings as required
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned or requested

Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited dental hygiene program
- NYS dental hygiene registration certificate
- One year of experience in a general dental practice setting is preferred
- Three years of experience in a community healthcare setting is preferred

The pay range for this position is $65,125. - $78,603. depending on years of experience.
