The Early Childhood Development (ECD) Specialist will work with the CHCB pediatricians/ECD Champions, and CHCB staff to support the Buffalo-Niagara Culturally Affirming Early Childhood Development (BNCA ECD) and other Early Childhood Development initiatives. The ECD Specialist takes ownership and can effectively and efficiently leverage resources, appropriately, to execute duties and responsibilities with operational excellence.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The ECD Specialist will conduct the following activities to increase access to developmental screenings, evaluations, referrals to care and follow-up, including:
- Conduct ECD screenings such as Ages and Stages and Social Emotional Development.
- Provide standard information to families of young children on the importance of ECD.
- Provide ECD expert consultation or brief intervention with families.
- Conduct parent workshops.
- Provide ECD expert consultation to the care teams (pediatricians, behavioral health counselors, and social workers).
- Work with the Erie and Niagara County Department of Health Early Intervention (EI) program to engage families in follow-up services.
- Connect families to needed follow-up services.
- Work with Erie and Niagara Head Start/Early Head Start Programs and other community organizations.
- Acquire and maintain sound knowledge and understanding of the ECD program requirements and outcomes, the organization, its mission, and its operational and functional processes.
- Document processes and maintain data records.
- Utilize ECD best practices.
- Participate in and contribute to Quality Improvement activities and functions as needed.
- Leverage appropriate resources, experience, and skills to achieve results on time and within budget.
- Provide regular progress updates and prepare prescribed reports as directed.
- Perform under minimal supervision with accountability for specific goals and objectives.
- Work with the Leadership team to develop performance improvement targets for quality, service, and efficiency.
- Foster a productive work environment and the achievement of goals through the demonstration of problem-solving skills, conflict management skills, and team-building skills.
- Attend meetings as required.
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned or requested.
Physical Demands:
Requires periods of sitting, standing, walking, bending, and stooping. Weekend and evening work may be required.
Pay Range
$48,009-$55,000
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field - Master's Degree preferred.
- Minimum two (2) years experience working in a program serving young children, i.e., infants/toddlers or preschool-age children.
- Must have strong attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Computer literacy.
- Superb written and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records systems.
