**Job Summary:**
The Community Health Center of Buffalo is seeking Medical Assistants to join the Family Planning Department. The Medical Assistant will perform clerical and clinical functions under the supervision of the Registered Nurse and/or Physician. **Responsibilities:**
**General:**
- Adhere to agency policies and procedures regarding confidentiality
- Participate in quality improvement activities
- Communicate effectively with patients and staff
- Maintain a professional demeanor when interacting with patients and staff
- Adhere to infection control principles
- Contribute to Quality Improvement and Quality Assurance activities as needed
**Specific:**
- Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work environment
- Perform clerical duties to facilitate efficient patient flow
- Prepare patients and examination rooms for procedures
- Assist providers during examinations and procedures
- Conduct routine diagnostic tests
- Collect and process specimens
- Maintain supplies and equipment in patient rooms
- Ensure the integrity of medical records and documentation
- Provide patient education and support
- Identify and communicate emergency situations to appropriate personnel
- Attend required meetings
- Perform additional duties as assigned
**Physical Demands:**
This role requires periods of sitting, standing, walking, bending, and stooping. Some evening work may be necessary.
**Minimum Qualifications:**
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Nursing or Medical Assistant Diploma
- Three (3) years of relevant experience
- Computer literacy including proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
**Preferred Qualifications:**
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certified Nursing or Medical Assistant diploma
- Five (5) years of experience in an ambulatory setting
- Certification by the American Association of Medical Assistants
- Computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Certification by the American Association of Medical Assistants
This is a union position (1199SEIU) with an hourly rate of $16.95 - $20.46.
